Buyers check out on terms, inside their own credit limit

For whoever sets terms and credit
The longest terms and the payment methods each role can grant are written into the policy.
In the Commerce Rules Engine (CDL Workspace), terms and payment methods are part of each role's limits, next to the discount ceiling.

For buyers who pay on terms
The buyer picks the payment date, and checkout shows the price for that date, inside the company's limit.
Limit, open balance and available credit show before checkout; with credit available in the limit, the order moves on to invoicing.

For buyers restocking a reseller
The cart built overnight already carries the contract price, with the credit limit checked on the spot.
The Procurement Agent builds the order and checks the limit; anything outside the rule goes to a person before checkout.

For owners buying from more than one store
Before paying, the shop owner sees in one summary what each store sells and ships, with the order total.
One order, one bill: stock, price, credit and tax are checked before checkout by the 4-Point Checkout Validation in the Credit-First B2B Checkout (Checkout & Payments).

By challenge · Payments
The buyer fills the cart and drops off at checkout because there's no way to pay on terms. Credit review takes days, the order dies in the meantime, and your rep ends up chasing invoices by email. In B2B, payment is a negotiated condition, not a card.
On CWS Platform, credit is a payment method. The Credit-First B2B Checkout (Checkout & Payments) shows the buyer their limit, open balance and available credit, and closes the order on the terms in their contract, with Net Terms of 30, 60 and 90 days next to bank invoice, card and instant transfer. Each role's terms and payment-method policy lives in the Commerce Rules Engine (CDL Workspace).
Where orders on terms get stuck today
Checkout has no terms
Without payment on terms, the buyer goes back to the rep or the phone, and the deal dies at the close.
Credit is checked afterwards
Finance reviews credit once the order is already in, and the customer is left waiting for an answer.
One order, several bills
Buyers who order from more than one distribution center get separate orders, invoices and conversations about terms.
Invoiced order
The confirmed order is already invoiced to the credit limit, with its due date.
With credit available in the limit, the order moves on to invoicing: the summary shows the payment method, the total and the due date, with no call to finance.

ERP credit status inside the flow
Customers in good standing buy as usual, those with open issues get a restricted offer, and blocked accounts can't close: credit standing decides what checkout offers.
Before the order goes out, stock, price, credit and tax are checked together by the 4-Point Checkout Validation, so no one has to check credit afterwards.
Payment method
Each payment method shows its own terms up front.
Instant transfer, card and bank invoice side by side: the buyer sees each one's terms before choosing, and one order can combine the credit limit with another method.

Persona · Chief financial officer
Orders on terms arrive already checked against each customer's limit.
Limit, balance and terms are in checkout, and finance only steps in when something breaks the rule.

Persona · Sales rep, distributor
I stopped sending invoices and terms by message: customers check out on terms by themselves.
The contract terms show up for them on the portal, and I keep the deals that need me.
In production: pre-approved credit on a cart of hundreds of items
At Imdepa, an auto parts and aftermarket distributor, an order with more than 250 SKUs is built in a single cart, with taxes, freight and pre-approved credit calculated automatically, in seconds. In 3 years of operation, the portal activated 153 customers and processed about 60,000 orders.
At Fortbras, checkout has payment methods by store, credit limits by banner, minimum order, bank invoice on terms and payment negotiated with the store.

What usually gets in the way, and how it works
Does the limit come from my ERP?
It can: the limit arrives over API, as at Fortbras, and the invoice payment type is tied to it, with the balance visible to the buyer.
What if an order goes over the limit?
The payment type's rule decides, for example by charging interest outside the terms, and the other methods stay available in the same checkout.
Different terms per customer?
Yes. Terms come from the account's contract, the dates and number of installments of each payment-on-terms method are configurable, and the longest terms each role can grant are written into the policy.
Frequently asked questions
What are B2B payment terms?
They are the conditions under which a business customer pays later, against a credit limit: the order is invoiced and paid on an agreed date or in installments, instead of being paid at checkout.
Can I offer Net 30, 60 and 90 online?
Yes. On CWS Platform, credit is a native payment method, and each customer checks out on the terms in their own contract, inside their limit.
Can the payment date change the price?
It can, if your rule says so: checkout recalculates the price for the chosen date using the store's price list, and moving the date earlier brings back today's price.
Can one order combine credit and a card?
Yes. The same order accepts more than one payment method, such as the credit limit plus a bank invoice or a card.
